My studio is built around a MacPro 8 core tower, MOTU 828Mk2, and Behringer B2030As.
- I primarily use Presonus Studio One Pro and CUBASE. I also use REASON+RECORD occasionally.
- I design sounds with softsynths. I’m not all software based — on the hardware side my main synths are a Roland V-Synth XT, JV2080, and a Kawaii K5000. I also have a couple of modules from Waldorf and a Fizmo.
- My main keyboard controller is a M-Audio Axiom Pro49 and a Keystation Pro88.
I also use the Novation ReMOTE SL37 and struggle with AutoMap3 everydayI gave up on AutoMap… - I also have a couple of animation programs that are great for generating abstract 3D imagery: Groboto and Bryce. I have not done anything visual in a year. I recently starting working on projects involving video and hope to post a few things before the fall. (For video editing I use iMovie or FinalCut Pro.)
- Lastly, I have a Tascam 644 that I can use to pull tracks from OLD tapes I made “back in the day” when cutting edge was a Portastudio 144, some Fostex 4-track, or the erstwhile Tascam.
This is an amazing array of capabilities that I could barely dream of a decade ago. It is at once liberating and at the same time overwhelming. As Eno said: “It’s not the number of options; it’s having 2 or 3 really good ones that matters…”
Yep.
Cheers.
