So among the other things going on right now: My wife and I are buying a home. (We are closing within the next 2 weeks.) This is my first time purchasing a home, and yes it is kind of complicated. Lots to do, lots of paperwork, inspections, logistics, etc.
We’ve been looking for a little while. I always had two particular requirements (in addition to the standards like safe neighborhood, good schools, etc.). Namely, 1) I wanted a decent kitchen and deck because I really enjot cooking and grilling; and 2) I wanted a room that could be purpose dedicated to a studio/music room. To me that means something most likely in the basement where I can invest in some acoustic treatment, really decent monitors, a proper mixer, and some serious studio furniture.
Well, we found a great house, in a fantastic neighborhood, at the right price. Park nearby, great schools, easy commute. Requisite kitchen and deck.
Just no real studio space.
Well, the good far outweighs the bad, so I will continue to wait. Maybe in a few years, we’ll add a room on and THEN I will get my space!
In the meantime, I thought I would share some photos of quasi-realistic-to-one-day-have “dream studios” that I have collected over the years. This stuff is from all over: product brochures, forums, random adverts. All image copyrights belong to their respective owners wherever they are.
Enjoy.

- Very efficient set up
- I bet the hardwood makes it noisy…
- Good ergonomics here
- Love the three screens…

Really loving the pictures. I’m in no financial position to purchase these. But im starting a music tech course at college in less than a month. Really excited and cant wait…..
This is the kind of thing i want my workspace to look like. Being a recording engineer would be perfect! I’d also do live sound too
as i miss being near a stage (I play / played bass in a band, who knows whats happening at the moment lol!)
Sad that you don’t have any comments yet
i’m not sure when you did this site but looks really professional, I’m impressed
glad to know i’m not the only one aspiring to be a recording engineer with high dreams!
Would love it if you could email me, maybe we could chat some more?
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the comment and the compliment, too!
I’m in no position to purchase these either, but there is a lot being done with simpler set ups. There are quite a few “working musicians” (by that I mean folks who are putting music out there for purchase or touring) that have much simpler set ups. I’ve come across a site that has pictures of many such recording workspaces.

You know, you’ve given me the idea for my next blog entry. Stay tuned!
